Atticus pulled on the reins of the Dominatrices to halt them, keeping some distance away from the dais.

He didn’t bother looking for me amongst the guests and focused on Aemon.

“I know what you’re thinking,” Atticus said. “Why have two?”

Aemon glared at him, his intrigue showing.

Atticus continued. “I’m the senior dominant. Merely making a point.” He tightened his hands around the chains and gave them a tug.

The Dominatrices settled on their knees, easily dominated just like he’d done with me inside of an hour. That was his superpower, he knew what to say and how to say it, emanating the kind of authority conjured up from another dimension.

Aemon pushed to his feet. “You are here without an invite.”

“You know what they say about rules.” Atticus gave a low bow.

“I do,” said Aemon wryly.

Atticus gave a nod. “Permission requested to be present amongst such an esteemed gathering.”

Saying anything on his behalf might make things worse. Yet remaining silent made me complicit in what they did to him.

What have you done?

Atticus gave the reins a flick. The Dominatrices trembled with arousal, their nipples beaded and their mouths slack.

“Finger-fuck yourselves,” he ordered sharply.

And they did, without hesitation—both reaching for themselves and pleasuring their pussies, swaying with the pleasure.

How had he persuaded them to do anything he ordered?

I knew what it was like to be on the other end of his sensual orders. Was that all I was to him, another woman to prove his influence?

What I’d felt from him was compassion and it had been as real as the air I breathed. And yet seeing him now, I hardly recognized him.

The fear I felt for him almost overwhelmed me. I’d never known anyone to survive trespassing, especially during a ceremony.

“Quite the entrance,” said Jewel.

“Heard you like variety.” Atticus dropped the reins and side-stepped the women.

“How did you get up here?” asked Jewel.

“I have my secrets, too.” Atticus widened his arms to make his point holding a devilish grin.

“This is unacceptable,” said Jewel.

Aemon raised his hand to silence her. “Entering this floor is by invitation only.”

“Technically, that’s flawed.”

“Really?” Aemon looked amused.

Atticus gave a knowing nod. “You might want your guests to step out.”

“Why spoil their fun?” chided Aemon.

“If it’s fun you want…” He gave a nod to the new submissives.

Jewel stomped her foot. “That’s enough.”

The Dominatrices ceased their self-pleasuring.

“You’ve made your point,” said Jewel. “Why are you here?”

“To further our discussion.” Atticus turned to Aemon.

Jewel prickled and it looked a lot like jealousy.

“Talk,” Aemon snapped.

Atticus shrugged. “Intricate rituals are what your members enjoy. How about a vote?”

A rumble of disquiet filled the great hall.

Aemon raised his hand in the air. “Please give us a few minutes to resolve this.”

The crowd dispersed, leaving the vast chamber empty. It seemed to take forever, and no one had the patience for it.

I stayed back, observing them from behind a pillar with my heart pounding and perspiration on my lip.

Atticus turned to look at me.

Our eyes locked.

A multitude of emotions were conveyed between us.

I didn’t recognize the man behind the mask.
